About Optios
Optios is a Belgian SaaS company providing all-in-one management software for hairdressers and beauty salons. From online bookings to point of sale, stock management and accounting, their platform supports over 3,000 customers across Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
The challenge: Hitting the limits of growth
Optios provides software that helps hairdressers and beauty salons manage appointments, sales and stock. As more customers joined, their cloud system started to slow down and costs grew too high. Fixing problems took too long, and the platform wasn’t flexible enough to keep up with their plans to grow.
They needed a cloud setup that could handle more users, run faster and keep costs under control.
Our solution: A cloud-native move to Google Cloud
Optios chose Google Cloud because it offered better pricing, strong support for Kubernetes (a tool to manage software easily) and built-in tools for analytics and security. We worked closely together to redesign their platform using:
- Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) to run and scale containerized apps
- Cloud SQL for efficient database management
- Service Mesh for managing container traffic and improving security
- Infrastructure-as-Code to automate and streamline the DevOps cycle
We moved their platform step-by-step. We started with internal tools, then simple features and finally the core apps. This careful approach kept things running smoothly, with almost no downtime. And it worked 👏. Customers barely noticed anything except for better performance.
“The migration was a real team effort. Our solution architect handled the architecture design, while we managed planning and communication between vBridge (now ACA Group) and our internal teams to make sure everything was ready.”
- Sven Cornelis, CEO Optios
The result: Faster, leaner and ready for whatever’s next
Post-migration, Optios saw major improvements. Performance is up, load times are down and infrastructure is easier to manage. Security was built into the new platform from the start. Most importantly, the cloud costs are now predictable and scale with the business.
“Since the migration, our applications perform much better and load times are significantly shorter. Managing the cloud environment is easier too, which saves us valuable time.”
- Sven Cornelis, CEO Optios
Optios now has a future-proof platform that is ready to support their next stage of growth.
