Tom Van Den Bosch, CEO of Energie.be, explains that many Belgian households are paying far too much for energy: "Over 1.2 million households pay up to €1,000 too much annually. Despite our competitive prices, larger providers with complex and misleading pricing strategies dominated the market. That’s why we wanted to create a simple, effective way to raise awareness about savings potential and enable consumers to choose a provider that’s the best long-term option."
The solution? A personalized Tariefcheck that lets consumers instantly see if and how much they can save—and switch providers within 30 seconds.
"It needed to be better than existing comparison websites that only evaluate the current offers from other providers without accounting for your current contract, which you might have signed months ago", adds Tom.

To develop this tool efficiently, Energie.be partnered with ACA Group. Tom explains: "We organized a hackathon together to rapidly build the Tariefcheck. ACA approached the challenge with a critical eye and began development immediately."
In collaboration with Energie.be’s team, ACA Group outlined all user stories and designed the tool. Thanks to their technical expertise, the first version of the Tariefcheck was delivered in just 1.5 months.
The tool doesn’t just provide immediate insights into potential savings—it also accounts for complex scenarios, such as variable rates and social tariffs. Weekly meetings and rapid iterations ensured that these exceptions were handled effectively.

In addition to developing the Tariefcheck, ACA Group helped optimize Energie.be’s internal processes. Previously, comparing a customer’s invoice to current market offerings was a manual and time-intensive task. ACA implemented a system that automatically recognizes and processes invoice data, dramatically improving efficiency.
"This saves us not only time but also costs", says Tom. "The Tariefcheck makes it easier for customers to save and simplifies the work for our customer support team."
