Sustainathon at Duvel Moortgat: turning CSRD legislation into working dashboards

ACA Group guided two students through a twelve-week Sustainathon project for Duvel Moortgat, resulting in a concrete report built around the CSRD legislation. Thibo Vanderkam and Kwinten Boes carried out the project under the guidance of ACA experts Marnick Vanloffelt and Ellen Appermont, working closely with Duvel Moortgat.

Turning sustainability into concrete data

Duvel Moortgat is a family business, now in its fourth generation, brewing since 1871 and grown into an international group of thirteen breweries worldwide. That scale comes with a bigger responsibility on sustainability, including the EU's CSRD legislation, the reporting framework Belgian companies must comply with.

At ACA Group, we believe in giving young talent a real shot on real projects. That's why we created the Sustainathon: a twelve-week programme where we provide students to a client, supported by ACA experts, delivering a proof of concept.

From indicators to dashboards

For Duvel Moortgat, that meant:

• Determining which CSRD indicators are relevant to Duvel Moortgat
• Tracing the underlying raw data in existing systems and processes
• Processing and presenting that data in dashboards
• Giving employees access to track it themselves, for example carbon footprint per packaging type

A step toward ambitious goals

With this project, Duvel Moortgat takes a concrete step toward its sustainability goals. For Thibo and Kwinten, it also marked their first real taste of working life, with immediate impact on a large project.
